welcome back guys today covering the Pythagorean theorem with none other than  and drum roll and we are back we're going to be covering the path Korean **** so what do we need to know before we can begin covering put that Doritos what's my bedroom boa need to know that triangles have two legs play either horizontal as you can see there or the other leg that is perpendicular to the horizontal a triangle two legs what else do triangles have well the triangle will always have the longest side which we gave it this cute little name hip hip hip hop what's the news as you can see it there is the hypotenuse so we know three things about a triangle the first two are legs and the last what is a hypotenuse what do we know about the hypotenuse it turns out to be the one  the law best side of the three remember that that's very that the hypotenuse will be the longest side of the three we're going to go ahead and how's it there that way you guys can finish drawing the picture and writing the right triangle can draw it the purple leg is 20 yards and the red leg is 15 yards those are your two legs legs I need to have a variable A or B the hypotenuse will always be see now it's not always a this is a it doesn't matter which one you want to be a or b but something's for sure or for certain that the hypotenuse is always going to be C let's go ahead and figure out what the hypotenuse is  go ahead and write down this formula this is the Pythagorean theorem and it's a square + b square is equal to C Square  once again square plus b-square equals to C square and what do we know wake me up at the third side the hypotenuse is always going to be with see not cakes what's the next step after we've done that the next step would be to substitute your numbers for the letters so we know that is 15 so we're going to plug replace a with 15 and we Square it next when we know we have to ask cuz that's part of the formula now but could be you know that be is what number 20 very good 20 and we're going to square it and then we have to  right on the equal sign and we don't know what c square is so that variable to stay there what's the next step if you remember PEMDAS  or some of you have been using dentist  you know that there's no parentheses but we do have exponents someone choose a different color Buddha Circle that because we have exponents so let's figure that out 15 square is really 15 time what number  hopefully you said 15 so what's 15 times 15 you're working it out and hopefully you came up with 225 we got to add  add what's 20 squared equal to 20 x 20 you know that two times two is or bring down here to zero 400 equals c Square we're almost there next if you look at PEMDAS what's the last step that we see here  addition so awesome  225 Plus 100 gives us hopefully you said 625  no are we done well this answer has to be somewhat close to that number and this number would you say that this is the answer not quite well we need to do it we need to undo this exponent right here because if you notice there's no Square there and for a there's no square number either so that's we need to undo that square and how do we do it easy take the square root of the right side in the square root of the left side Genies cancel leaving you with your C and then now you got to figure out what two numbers that are identical will give me 625  they have to be the same number and if you figured it out hopefully you said that is 25 * 25 put your answer is not going to be this that's crazy now you're right. good night to do that so what you need to do is you need to take only one of these numbers here choose one it doesn't so what's the square root of 625 hopefully you said that the answer would be what waiting waiting hope he said it was 25 song Let's Hear answer make sense is 25 close enough to these answers and hopefully you say this what's the next thing you need to see is your hypotenuse the longest side would be compared with this one you know that it is he compared with that one you also know that it's going to be the longer side so we figured out the answer  the distance of C is 25 skip the story have a happy ending well
